Make.Art.Work. New Haven invites you to their Group Art Show. The Make.Art.Work. Group Art Show is an eclectic collection of artists’ visions and passions. Join us for the opening reception Thursday, July 9, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at The Arts Council of Greater New Haven’s Sumner McKnight Crosby Jr. Gallery (70 Audubon St, 2nd Floor) and at Koffee? (104 Audubon St) from 5:00 to 9:00pm. The art show at the Sumner McKnight Crosby Jr. Gallery will be open to the public from June 25th to September 4th and at Koffee? during the month of July. Please refer to the venues for their hours. The Make.Art.Work. Group Art Show includes artwork from Corinne McManemin, Lee Walther, Ellen Hoverkamp, Elena Gerard, Ivan Tirado, Kiara Matos, Liz Grace, Vanessa Braucci, Cayla Lockwood, Linda Wingerter, and Beth Klingher.
Corinne McManemin’s Koi Paintings are colorful depictions of space and movement. Lee Walther is a Visionary/Creative who easily sees the multi-dimensional potential for many kinds of objects, images and materials and their relationship to each other. Lee creates and designs original pieces of ‘Functional Art’. Ellen Hoverkamp has been digitally capturing samples of nature using her flatbed photo scanner as a camera, since 1997. Dr. Ivan Tirado is inspired by the vivacity of the human body and influenced by the organic beauty of ‘Art Nouveau’. Kiara Matos´ work is based on her deep appreciation for highly skilled craftsmanship, Mid-Century Modern Design, Architecture and the endless joy she draws from observing the natural world. Liz Grace’s work is all about simplicity of line and saying all that can be said with the least amount of them – fluency with brush and gouache. Vanessa Braucci uses her camera to capture the forgotten beauty of nature and release it to the world. Beth Klingher uses natural materials – stone, pottery and tile – to create mosaics filled with textural patterns, mathematically based designs and abstract landscapes.
