The Arts Council of Greater New Haven presents Traduzindo Cor at Perspectives…The Gallery at Whitney Center curated by Debbie Hesse & José Monteiro. There will be an artists’ reception from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Prior to the reception there will be artists talks by Resident Perspectives Artists at 2-2:30 p.m.; John Arabolos at 2:30-2:45 p.m. and José Monteiro at 2:45-3:00 p.m. The public are invited to attend the reception and artists talks.

The works will be on view to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 1 to 4 p.m. at the gallery located at the Whitney Center, 200 Leeder Hill Drive, South Entrance, Hamden, CT. There is no fee.

Traduzindo Cor (Translating Color) is a multi-media exhibition that brings together artists from New England and Cape Verde Islands who use color to communicate ideas about personal and cultural identity and nature in a cross cultural conversation that examines the universality of color as a powerful, expressive language of its own.

Participating artists include: Dagi Andrade, John Arabolos, Julia Coash, Fatima Fidalgo Barros, Insook Hwang, Noe Jimenez, Barbara Marks, Tuto Sousa and Jo Velhinho.

Perspectives…The Gallery at Whitney Center, a gallery exhibit in partnership with the Arts Council of Greater New Haven and Whitney Center, is located at 200 Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden. The gallery features regional artists in group and thematic shows. Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
