THE ARTS COUNCIL OF GREATER NEW HAVEN

The Arts Council of Greater New Haven was founded in 1964 to support the New Haven Symphony’s and the Neighborhood Music School’s need of rehearsal and performing space. Our founders then planned and developed the Audubon Arts District, a mixed-used development for our growing arts community. Evolving into a professional local arts agency, The Arts Council launched The Arts Paper, a monthly print publication, as well as an annual Arts Awards. The Arts Council also commissioned regional cultural planning studies, coordinated advocacy for arts funding, and provided capacity building services for artists and arts organizations.

Today, The Arts Council is embarking on a transformative initiative to empower audiences and artists in Greater New Haven with an online Digital Arts Hub. Our current website no longer serves this need, so a full replacement is required. We are currently investing resources into a comprehensive rebranding and inbound marketing strategy to support our new website.

With a new leadership team and a partner to build the Digital Arts Hub, we believe that the arts can become the heart of our community and finally solidify our region as the cultural capital of Connecticut and the creative gateway to New England.
